ALTER SATZ – MEDIEVAL FIELD BLEND
200 years ago, single-varietal vineyards were the exception here on the Mosel—as they were in the rest of Germany. In addition to Riesling, a wealth of other grape varieties grew here on the Moselle slopes. This wine revives this old tradition of mixed planting.
In addition to Riesling, the following grape varieties are found in the plot: Gelber Kleinberger, Gelber Orleans, Grüner Adelfränkisch, Grünfränkisch, Weißer Heunisch, and Weißer Traminer. All grapes are harvested at the same time, mashed in the vineyard, pressed together, and spontaneously fermented in traditional oak barrels.

RICHTER DRY RIESLING
Classical and typical dry Riesling of the Mosel valley. Precise fruit, fresh and crisp fruit acid. Sourced from the young wines of our Premier Cru vineyards.

RIESLING CLASSIC
Delicate fruit, lively character, mineraly driven, yet dryish with crisp fruit acid; produced from 40 year old wines.

RICHTER ESTATE RIESLING
Produced from grapes of “Prädikat”-wine quality but vinified somewhat drier this is the calling card wine of our Estate. It’s produced from replanted vineyards, less than 15 years in terroir, where due to its youth the expression of the single vineyard is not fully developed yet. Luscious and quintessential Mosel Riesling.

PINOT BLANC
Herbal fruit notes, gooseberry and white currant flavour, smells spring time; a lively and well balanced, easy accessible wine; lean and loaded with slate stone minerals, representing clearly distinct Mosel style.

PINOT NOIR
A few years ago, we planted a small plot with a mixture of French and German Pinot Noir clones. The plot is located in Mülheim in the “auf Steinberg” vineyard: steep slopes, fine gray-blue slate, and a pure south-facing location. The mash was fermented in open containers with a whole grape/stem ratio of 25% and pressed after four weeks. Further aging took place for 15 months in used French oak barriques. The result is a classic Pinot Noir that cannot deny its Mosel origins. Clear, fine fruit and juiciness paired with classic slate minerality and freshness, with a moderate alcohol content.

PINOT NOIR RÉSERVE
When nature allows, we separately cultivate the best grapes from the oldest vines in our Pinot Noir plots. This Pinot Noir is then aged for two years in new French oak barrels. Deeper and more complex than normal Pinot Noir on the nose. More minerality and riper fruit. Long and dense on the palate! Still young. Decanting recommended!
